Facts on Medical Cannabis

Cannabis has been used for hundreds of thousands of years in treating different diseases. Nonetheless, most people only know of the debate going on about its use as a prohibited drug. There are very interesting facts about medical cannabis that one should know. It is known to be the most common type of illicit drug in the United States. Around 100 million Americans have tried using it at least once and more than 25 million smoked it in the last year. Here are some facts regarding medical cannabis:
1. It takes800 joints to kill a person, but the cause of death will be carbon monoxide poisoning.
2. The plant seeds were used as food source in China as far as 6000 BC. The first use recorded occurred in 2737 BC by Shen Nung who was a Chinese Emperor. He proved its effectiveness in treating gout pain and rheumatism.
3. The cannabis plant could grow in almost any climate and averages from on to two inches growth daily up to eighteen feet in an ideal setting.
4. The first United States citizen arrested for selling it was Samuel Caldwell in October, 1937. H was sentenced to four years of hard labor and fined $1,000.
5. During the 1890s, it was commonly recommended as a substitute for alcohol. The reason is because its use does not lead to domestic violence compared to using alcohol.
